Women and Sex Drive - The Female Libido Mystery By Nick Lombardi Platinum Quality Author

For men's libidos, the formula is pretty simple: pretty lingerie, a sexy look and the sight of some skin and its all systems go! But the female libido is a bit more complex. Actually, saying "a bit more complex" is like saying calculus is just a "bit" more difficult than first grade addition.

So what is the secret? It is understanding what drives women. It is understanding what can affect female libido. Women and sex drive are connected in a less direct way than men and sex drive.

What drives a woman's libido? Women are driven by relationship. That means that a woman thrives on how she relates to her man. She thrives on how she communicates with her man. She thrives on the attention her man gives to her.

In the beginning of a relationship is usually when sex is the best and the female libido is highest. Why? Because the man is lavishing her with love, attention and affection. He is trying to spark her interest, listens intently to her, talks to her and goes out of his way for her.

But then, after a year or so of marriage, the lavishing of love, attention and affection the man was pouring out is replaced by complacency. Why chase what you have? The answer is this: because she needs it to have a healthy libido!

So what do you do to help increase a woman's libido? Renew your passion for her. Focus on making her smile. Do the things you used to do - without expectations - do them "just because." Spend time alone together - listen to her and talk with her.

Other things that can affect the female libido vary. An issue in one or more of three basic areas can seriously affect her sex drive:

  1. Physical. She could have hormonal imbalances. She could have a medical issue or trauma from pregnancy. There are so many possibilities, it is best to see a doctor that specializes in female sexuality. Certain herbs and over the counter supplements can help with hormonal issues. Two examples are DHEA and tribulus terrestris extract. DHEA acts as a precursor to many hormones in the body. The body uses it to create hormones that are lacking. So it helps to balance hormones. Tribulus terrestris extract helps the body produce more testosterone. Testosterone is an important hormone for sexual desire - in both men and women. In fact, it works so well at producing testosterone, the Russians used to use it as a supplement for their athletes. Of course, before she takes anything, consult a doctor - especially if she is pregnant or nursing.
  2. Emotional. She may suffer from low self esteem. She may have past trauma that is hindering her. There are many things that can go on in a woman's head to throw off her libido. To help her, you can work on accepting her 100% for who she is. Do not have expectations of her. Do not try to change her. If you want change, then she needs to have an accepting healthy environment that will enable her to change. And if you want her to feel good about herself, then treat her like she's a princess - lavish love and acceptance on her - again: without the pressure of expectations.

  3. Mental. What does she think about sex? How was she raised? Does she think sex is dirty or sanctified? Many women have negative thoughts about their sexuality. Such thoughts can have a huge affect on a woman's libido. Counseling and education are good tools to help with negative images of sex.

With patience, love and understanding, you can improve a woman's libido. All you need is knowledge and the desire to accept and do what you can to help her feel loved and cherished. A better sex life will help the man, the woman and most of all: it will improve the relationship.
